PRESIDENT

KHANH DANG

Email: khanhdang9877@gmail.com

Blurb: HI, HEY, HELLO!! My name is Khanh Dang and I am proud to be your 2015-2016 Key Club President! Fun fact: I might be your President and my name may be Khanh, but I promise you, there are an innumerable amount of pros over cons in why you should join Key(for those who aren't already a part of it heh) Aside from that, being a part of Key Club has been the most rewarding experience since the beginning of my highschool career! Even if we don't make keys, I truly believe that we do open doors. I was one of many who was provided a door to walk through and my life has only been a brighter walkway since. I owe too much too this club that has created the opportunity for me to grow as I did, from a wandering, unconfident freshman to your Key Club President! I can only say so much about my Key Club experience. I am so much more than excited to be serving you guys and aiming to lead another fantabulous year and giving you all the inspiring Key experience that I had! Just a note, I love people and I love meeting people! I welcome you all with open arms so please say hi to me!!

VICE PRESIDENT

CINDY DUONG

Email: cindyduong539@gmail.com

Blurb: Aloha ohana of Independence Key Club!! I'm Cindy Duong, I have served the community for two years, and this will be my third. Every year I get more and more excited to see all the new achievements that our club reaches. In addition, key clubbers never cease to amaze me. From either all their community service work, their spirit, to their leadership skills. I'm proud to say that Tuesdays are the best days since I get to see my ohana! I have grown tremendously from being a socialist, project director, and Eliminate Coordinator; and I'm more than ecstatic to serve as your vice president this year. People underestimate the amount of work and change can be made by "dramatic" teenagers, but we are living and breathing proof that we can prevent pediatric trauma, eliminate MNT, and make an observable change in the community we live in. Aside from all the work I do in Key Club, I'm a strong advocate for anti-human trafficking. I extremely enjoy late night activities, whether that be roaming the streets or just staying awake binge watching my favorite TV shows. I am obsessed with all the places I haven't yet been to yet. As clique as it sounds, I want to see the world, all the animals, all the diverse cultures and people, and just the sheer beauty that our planet has to offer. Hiking is my favorite pass time, I'm not a professional or anything, but I truly appreciate nature. If you ever want to hang out, don't hesitate to invite me on a hike! I'm open to change and ideas, so if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don't hesitate to ask them. Let us (the Key Club term of 2015-16) bring you the keys to unlock a million possibilities. Let's make this year the BEST year EVER; I have no doubt about it!!

SECRETARY

TANYA TRAN

Email: tanyatran123@gmail.com

Blurb: Hello, my BEE-loved Key Clubbers! My name is Tanya and I'll be serving as your 2015-2016 Secretary! Okay, let's get personal! I have a SLIGHT obsession with the number 7 and my life in seven words - Key, K-Pop, Netflix, Dance, K-Drama, Boba, and JeffreyFever. Anyways, my Key Club journey has been quite the rollercoaster and has given me an exciting "ride" that I'll never forget! All the ups-and-downs, twist-and-turns, and exhilaration has me out of breath and wanting more. My main focus is to provide both me and you the opportunities to make beautiful and unforgettable memories! We just need service, friends, and PIXIE DUST!!!! Just kidding! But I'll ensure that we'll give you the awesome events that you deserve. If you see me around, don't be afraid to say hi! I'd love to meet all of our members and become a closer ohana!! Give Key Club the honor of working its sweet, honey-like magic to get you feeling better than good! See you on Tuesdays in A-Commons!!! (๑•ᴗ•๑)❁

TREASURER

BRITTNEY LE

Email: brittney2198@gmail.com

Blurb: HALLO MEINE LIEBLINGS! If you took the time to go to this website and read a blurb about lil ol' me then I hope that you are having a fantastic day. My name is Brittney Le and I am an upcoming junior; I will be your treasurer for the 2015-2016 term. I am so excited to be a part of the officer team, knowing that just a few years ago I was a wide-eyed innocent freshmen that had just stepped into their first Key Club meeting. My proudest moment in my Key Club career was taking that initiative to become a board member as the 2014-2015 Socialist. Without that single drop in the ocean, I wouldn't be here today. Becoming a board member opened my eyes up to new experiences and gave me the opportunity to talk to a whole bunch of new people and have some of the greatest moments that have ever happened to me. For that, I will always be grateful. However, enough about all that sappy stuff (you can totally come talk to me rant about that in the future though), here's some tidbits of information about myself that you don't have to know but I'll tell you anyway! My favorite color is green because I used to be obsessed with the musical Wicked and it taught me that sometimes being different, although a little intimidating, doesn't have to mean bad and so YAY GREEN. I love anything caffeine related. When coming to school you will usually see me with a cup of iced coffee in my hand because w/o it I have no way of starting my day, (Yes I know that's a lot of money but totally worth it.) I have a passion of reading and no matter how old I get, getting a good book and sitting down with a cup of tea (because caffeine wooo) will always be one of my favorite pastimes. As an upcoming treasurer, my goals are to plan a whole bunch of successful fundraisers and to have successful distribution of all the merchandise we might have in the future i.e. T-shirts, pins, stickers, etc. If you have made it to the end of the lil' blurb w/o getting distracted, thank you for taking your time out of your day for that, it really means a lot to me. Remember: some things are worth defying gravity for so never be afraid to take that leap of faith in anything that you might pursue in the future. Auf Wiedersehen (Until we meet again)! (◡‿◡✿)

BULLETIN EDITOR

KAREN NGUYEN

 Email: nguyenkaren99@gmail.com

Blurb: First off, thank you for taking your time to go onto this website and read our blurbs, it really means a lot to me. I'm Karen Nguyen, your upcoming Bulletin Editor. I am really excited for the upcoming year because of the amazing team and the wonderful Key Club member! Just to let you know a little bit about me, I love the color orange, anime, roller coasters, crazy adventures, cameras, video editing, Adobe, technology, laptops, Key Club, volunteering, education, people, and myself. Throughout my Key Club journey, this is an experience that I will never forget because it has helped shape me to be who I am. Also, my best memories of High School is mostly Key Club, because of the wonderful opportunities that it offers. Not only that, I have met amazing people through this club. This club isn't just a volunteering club, but it's a club that opens doors for opportunities! Hence the name Key Club, because the keys unlock doors??? Yes I just typed that. Anyway, my goals for the upcoming year is to convince more members to see what Key Club offers and the benefits of it, create more videos related to Key Club, win as many awards for the club as possible to show what IHS Key Club is made of, create cool looking flyers and designs, have more apparel for the members to buy to represent IHS Key Club, and meet as many members as possible. Thank you for reading this, and I would love to connect with you someday. If you see me around school, or wherever, feel free to say "Hi" and strike up a conversation :) Well, I'll see you until next time; Live, Love, and Volunteer!

Blurb: Hello wonderful Key Clubbers!!! My name is Grace Takeda and I just can’t wait to be one of your 2015-2016 project directors! So for those of who don’t know me (and maybe even those who do) here are some fun facts about me! I love to write and could easily write you a ten-page essay if you wanted me to. Also, my all-time favorite band is PHOENIX!!! That definitely won’t change. I’m Japanese-Korean (I know right, crazy combination), but I’m always behind on Kpop, anime, etc. So I’m VERY willing to talk about them with anyone who wants to! Feel free to talk to me anytime (about those or anything else)! ^_^ I might look unfriendly and silent at times, but once you get to know me you’ll hopefully see that I’m not a scary person and that I love to make new friends! I joined Key Club in order to get to know other people and become more involved in my community. But through my involvement in Key Club, I have come to realize just how amazing everyone is in this club. I was so impressed by how much dedication and pride everyone had as well as the members’ care and acceptance of each other. I truly felt like we were one huge family, and this feeling motivated me to take a bigger role in such an amazing club. Key Club has definitely helped me gain so many awesome friends and was able to give me the confidence to take chances and grab at opportunities that came my way. Key has changed me in so many ways, and it even helped me smile a bit brighter. I hope to spread my joy of volunteering with all of you by giving you guys an awesome volunteering experience and to inspire you guys to take chances and to make a difference in any way you can. ^_^

I really like a big variety of different songs but my current favorite song is Trap Queen by Fetty Wap. Things that I am proud of is my 5:23 mile time, my member of the year award, and past position as a spirit coordinator for division 12 east. I love hiking, eating, listening to music, playing league of legends, and doing ANYTHING key related. Writing this blurb literally makes me happy. I am looking forward to seeing how this year will turn out for key club. Something I really want to pick up is dancing. Don't be afraid to ask me how I feel!

One thing you may not know about me is that I play the clarinet and am a proud member of Independence's 76th Cavalry Marching Band and Color Guard. In my free time, I LOVE reading, writing, and spending time with my friends and family. I've had a lot of hobbies throughout the years, and I'm currently trying to learn calligraphy. I also like crocheting stuffed animals, drawing, doing origami, and baking. I like running, but I'm reeaally bad at every other sport I've tried. Very bad. Terrible. It's kinda sad. Also, I think llamas are adorable (^‿^). I joined key club because I knew how dedicated its members were to making a difference not just in the community, but in the world. I wanted to be a part of an organization where I could help others, become the leader I want to be, and make memories with friends that will stay with me for a lifetime. I hope to inspire everyone to see Key Club not only as a community service club, but as an experience that will change your lives and how you see the world. I may seem shy and quiet at first, but if you see me around, feel free to say hi and don't hesitate to ask me how I feel! Here's a tip: If you ever see me not wearing my glasses (which is rare), know that I'll be pretty much blind, HAHAHA. Sorry in advance if I don't see you. Know that I would never ignore you on purpose! :) If you ever need anything, I'd be happy to help. I will do my best to contribute to making this term the best it can be. STAY SPIRITED, SIXERS!

Out of all the clubs, I decided to join Key Club because of the friendly people and welcoming environment. Ever since making this decision, Key Club has become a big part of my life. Besides dedicating numerous hours towards Key Club, I spend my free time running on IHS' varsity girls cross country team and track team. I also enjoy going to concerts, photo and video editing, and discovering new music. I am an outgoing, daring and open-minded person and I can't wait to include these qualities into my position as Co-Historian. I'm stoked to be a part of the 2015-2016 Key Club leadership team and I'm excited to see what it has to offer.

You might have seen me going around and taking pictures of y'all during events (or I mean catching you off guard for those candids/derps hehe). As historian I of course have an interest in photography and find that talking photos is both fun and relaxing. Another thing about me are that I really love doing arts and crafts, and that along with photography I am excited to bring into Key Club! I joined Key Club my sophomore year and ever since I've felt a KEYnection with the club through volunteering and meeting new people. Being a part Key Club has helped me become the person I am today and I wish Key Club can bring something positive into all of your lives as well. I hope you see all of you wonderful people around!

I am an abnormal, awesome, adventurous Asian American who loves to take pictures, play piano, ride my fixie, run cross country, play tennis and basketball, and to meet new people and have fun. I joined Key Club to branch out, make new friends, and to scream and shout and be hecka spirited! If you see me at Key Club meetings or around school, feel free to say hi to me! If you happen to stumble onto my Instagram or Twitter (@t0nyyxn) then you should definitely follow me!

A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Social Representative, a volunteer named Joseph Nguyen, and although his volunteering skills are great, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Joseph can save the world. First off, he is always smiling. He is one of the most positive people I know! He is going to be a great Social Rep, filled with spirit and fun! When he isn't volunteering, he enjoys reading, athletics, music, having fun, and simply living life to its fullest. Oh, and sometimes he writes biographies in third person xD Let's make this year better than good. (:
